It doesn’t look like that is totally necessary if the early returns are anything to go by. The Prey PC system requirements seem to target mid to high-end builds, going as far as recommending an i7 CPU. Early returns based on a cursory glance show the game is performing much better than previous Bethesda PC ports, such as Dishonored 2. You’ll see many users reporting with their PC specs and the performance they are getting. When you die, and you probably will a few times, the load times to respawn are much quicker, coming in at less than 10 seconds from death to respawn.įor those interested in hearing about the PC version, you can check out some Steam reviews of people who have the game unlocked already. This is still longer than we’d like to see but thankfully, in the demo at least, there aren’t many load screens. Both the PS4 and Xbox One take over a minute to load up but it takes longer for the Xbox One. If the PS4 input issues are indeed cleaned up, both consoles will perform largely the same. Aside from that, both consoles seem to have a pretty stable performance. The Xbox One does run into some issues in one part of the demo while moving around a particular area where there is potted grass. The game doesn’t have a PS4 Pro update but that could change when the games launches in the form of a patch.ĭigital Foundry says there is input delay in the demo for PS4 users but the developers have said that won’t be an issue in the official release. Many multi-platform titles for the Xbox One tend to cap at 900p for one reason or another so PS4 usually takes the win there.

Right off the bat, we have the PS4 running at a 1080p resolution while Xbox One is outputting at 900p, which is pretty much becoming the norm. With that out of the way, let’s jump into comparing the two versions. According to Digital Foundry, this made a big difference resulting in a smoother performance. Some recent games to use this engine include the recently released Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 and Xbox One launch title Ryse: Son of Rome. However, Prey was built on CryEngine 5 while the previously mentioned titles used CryEngine 4.
